A pair of brothers face serious charges in Florida after being accused of practicing dentistry without a license. According to the police investigation, they allegedly caused severe injuries to a patient during a cosmetic procedure.
Poorly placed veneers and severe damage
According to court documents, a woman visited Carlos Arturo Bedoya Rendón's clinic on June 27, 2024, to receive porcelain veneers. Shortly after the procedure, she noticed they were too large and did not look good.
Another dentist had to remove them and perform four root canals to repair the damage. The victim's natural teeth, according to the investigation, were filed down excessively.
An unlicensed clinic since 2020
Authorities allege Carlos and his sister, Yorlady Rendon, operated an unlicensed dental clinic on Village Park Drive in Orlando since at least 2020. They were both arrested on October 9, 2025 by the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI), which confirmed the information to McClatchy News.
The brothers face charges of practicing dentistry and operating an unauthorized dental laboratory. Their business, identified as 4D Design Your Smile -previously Digital Cosmetology Design Your Smile—, did not respond to press requests.
The beginning of the investigation
The case began in April 2022, when a Florida Department of Health investigator received a complaint. A licensed dentist claimed that one of his patients had paid Carlos Rendón approximately $4,000 for veneers, despite not having a dental license.
El Health Department later confirmed that Rendón only had a cosmetology license. The case includes at least three victims, all family members, including the woman who suffered a serious infection.
Procedures performed by the brothers
Documents reveal that Yorlady Rendón assisted her brother in the illegal procedures and handled the appointments and payments. On the day of the treatment, she was the one who placed the veneers before Carlos glued them down.
When the patient expressed her concerncuption for the size of the veneers, Yorlady replied that “do not worrycupAra”. However, when she finished the job, the woman said she “felt like crying because of how she looked”.
The next day, a tooth fractured, and she began to experience pain when speaking and eating. The patient returned to the clinic, but Rendón told her she would have to "get used to it" and that there was nothing he could do to correct it.
Infection and subsequent treatment
The problem worsened when the woman developed an infection from food debris trapped between her gums and the veneers. Rendón told her that only a laser could remove it, but he didn't have one.
Finally, the victim traveled from Florida St to Colombia to have her veneers removed at an authorized clinic. There, she needed eight days of antibiotics and four root canals.
Carlos Rendón returned $5,900 in several payments after multiple attempts to recover the money.cupthe money. Even so, he continued advertising his services until mid-September 2025.
