Trump overrides court orders and mobilizes the National Guard

The current US President, Donald Trump, is already deploying military troops in cities and states governed by the Democratic Party. This is despite court orders against him on the matter. Here's the full story.

For example, first it was Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and recently Memphis. Now, Chicago and Portland. It began on Saturday, with the activation of 300 troops, and continued on Sunday, with the deployment of the California National Guard to Oregon. Right there, a federal judge had blocked the military intervention hours earlier.

Gavin Newsom, Governor of California, addressed the issue through his official X account. "After a federal court blocked his attempt to federalize the Oregon National Guard, Donald Trump is deploying 300 California National Guard troops to Oregon."

"It's such an abuse of power and the law that it's breathtaking. The Trump administration is attacking the rule of law itself," the Democrat added.

Meanwhile, Oregon District Judge Karin Immergut on Saturday decided to temporarily block the transfer of at least 200 National Guard troops to Portland.

Attempt to federalize

Trump himself estimated that the troop presence in the Northwest city would last 60 days. Of course, with the option to extend it if the House of Representatives granted permission. Immergut indicated that Portland's crime figures do not justify federalizing the troops.

The theoretical judicial restraint will be in effect for two weeks while the matter is resolved in federal court. Despite this, Trump ignored the order, and the troops are already on their way to duty, Newsom recalled.

Recall that at the end of September, Trump had ordered Pete Hegseth, head of the Department of Defense, to deploy the National Guard in Portland to protect a war-ravaged city.
