Cubana de Aviación forced to suspend flights to and from Argentina for this reason

The national airline Cubana de Aviación was forced this week to suspend its flights to and from Buenos Aires, Argentina, due to an essential reason that could completely suspend all connections and leave both countries without a connection.

According to a report from the the press Locally, flights on April 23 and 24 are suspended, affecting hundreds of passengers. Why? Cubana de Aviación announced the temporary suspension of its flights to Argentina due to the refusal of aviation fuel suppliers in the country to provide service to the Cuban airline.

The decision, which affects flights on April 23 and 24, is due to "the abrupt refusal of aviation fuel suppliers in Argentina to continue providing their services to our company," explained Arsenio Arocha Elías Moisés, CEO of Cubana de Aviación, in a statement.

Arocha Elías Moisés specified that this situation also affects flights authorized by the Argentine National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC). The measure, according to the statement, is based on "the provisions of the United States blockade measures against Cuba."

The affected flights were:

  • CU360: Departure from Havana at 22:55 p.m. on April 23, arrival in Ezeiza scheduled for April 24.
  • CU361: Departure from Buenos Aires at 11:00 on April 24, arrival in Havana scheduled for the same day.

The Cuban airline also reported that the refusal of fuel suppliers has affected other airlines contracted by Cubana de Aviación to transport affected passengers.

"The actions taken by the Argentine suppliers are beyond the control of Cubana de Aviación," they concluded in their statement.
