Cuba extends until September 2025 tariff benefits for the import of food, toiletries and medicines.
The Cuban Government decided to extend until September 30, 2025 Tariff benefits that allow non-commercial imports of food, toiletries, and medicines, whether carried by passengers or by shipments.
The measure, announced by the Ministry of Finance and Prices, was published in the extraordinary edition number 13 of the Official Gazette.
This benefit exempts essential products from customs duties, as part of the country's efforts to facilitate the population's access to basic goods amid the current complex economic conditions.
The extension of these benefits reflects the continuation of policies aimed at supporting Cuban families, ensuring the entry of priority items in a more accessible and lower-cost manner.
Cuban Customs also extends the extension for power plants
The Cuban Ministry of Finance and Prices also issued Resolution 140/2025, by which it is extended until September 30, 2025 the benefit established in Resolution 218 of August 2022. More details on the Cuban Customs measure on hygiene, medicines, food, and power plants.
This measure allows the importation of electric plants of more than 900 watts of power without commercial value, through air, sea, postal and courier shipments, without the usual value restrictions.
According to the government, the decision is based on current economic conditions and responds to the need to support the residential sector in acquiring alternative energy sources, given the persistent contingencies in the country's electricity supply.
Initially, this benefit had been extended until April 30, 2025, but it is now being further expanded, thus facilitating the importation of this essential equipment for the population.
The resolution is based on the legal provisions of Law 113 of the Tax System and Decree-Law 22 of the Customs Tariff of the Republic of Cuba, which authorize the Ministry to grant tax exemptions and bonuses in contexts of social and economic need.

About a month ago, I asked the Ministry of Agriculture about whether cured meats, hams, etc., had to be vacuum-packed, and they still haven't responded. The extension is very good and understandable given the situation in the country.
Thank God they are at least aware of the extreme situation, and the people who can leave and enter the country can bring help.
