Local authorities have released new details regarding the sale of regulated food items as the year draws to a close. This information has begun circulating among consumers awaiting the arrival of various products distributed by retailers.
The initial data was discussed on a radio program in the province, although final deliveries and confirmations are still needed to complete the monthly basket.
Rice distribution in two stages
Director Business Group of Commerce in Cienfuegos, Eddy Víctor Hernández, reported that this December each consumer will receive twelve pounds of rice through two deliveries: six pounds in the first part of the month and six others in the second half of the month.
He indicated that some of the domestically produced rice will be sold under controlled and unrestricted conditions. This additional sale will prioritize Cumanayagua and Cienfuegos, municipalities with fewer resources for rice cultivation. The limit will not exceed two or three pounds per person.
Products included in the basket
In addition to rice, the arrival of peas, oil, and sugar is expected. The regulated sale of cigarettes of well-known brands will continue at prices of 250 and 300 pesos, below the prices on the informal market.
In the areas of the Turquino Plan, especially in Cumanayagua, they will hold two fairs where they will offer additional products provided by companies in the Trade and Food Industry.
The seventh round of the World Food Programme, which delivers rations to vulnerable people and pregnant women, is also underway.
Attention to family and the end of the year
The official commented that they are already organizing the Family Care System dinners for December 24 and 31, as well as for January 1 and 2, with the integration of community factors.
The sector also participates in the Day of Decisive Effort for the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, with revitalizing actions in children's parks, the Marriage Palace, the Covadonga restaurant and several points of the Malecón such as La Estrella and La Sureñita.
Restoration of food services
On Boulevard de San Fernando and Paseo del Prado, they are working to revitalize the gastronomic units and improve services towards the end of the year.

Hopefully, this isn't just more lies. God willing, 🙏 🙌 for all Cubans... where difficult and unwanted times are being lived...
I hope it reaches all provinces as promised; there's no longer any trust in the information given to the public. Where are the medical diets being delivered to children with chronic illnesses?
All those fat cats are liars; they don't care about the people. They and their families live in luxury, lacking nothing, while ordinary Cubans sink into poverty without electricity, food, medicine, water, or transportation. We have no future. In short, as I said before, they don't care about the people.
They live and die deceiving the people; neither they nor their families suffer hardship. They don't truly care about the people.
If everyone has to buy everything at the current inflation rate and they owe money on all products since February, including sugar, which is now imported, then get rid of the ration books. They won't be able to pay what they owe. And the warehouses (which are currently understocked) should be given to people affected by the hurricane or living in precarious housing. In every town and neighborhood, there are marginalized people living in extreme poverty. Get rid of the ration books; they're a drain on the economy. Relocate these people to community centers and provide support in hospitals, particularly for hygiene.
There are many products that could be offered to the population. Fidel made us dream of a chocolate bar to guarantee breakfast, which disappeared, along with pasta, elbow macaroni, spaghetti, noodles, and oil with a differentiated price, soap, toothpaste, beans, and chickpeas after the rationed portion, as is intended to be generalized with rice. Packets of soft drinks and cookies, even if they are just modules for families, would help with students' snacks. This cannot be left to the initiative of the territories; the state is one, the state of Cuba. Let's take care of the people who sustain us; thanks to them we are here, through training and a vocation to resist. Let's look for alternatives. It will be difficult to increase salaries, but guaranteeing more options will give more confidence and hope, seeing the light of solidarity from the world towards Cuba.
Hello, please respond. What's happening in Holguín? Where is the province's basic food basket? Hurricane Melissa took what little was left. A bunch of plantains reached 350 pesos or more for just 3 pounds or more. Papaya is $300 a pound. A one-kilo bag of rice is $600, while other local or nationally produced rice is over $220. And what about beans? $450 a pound. Tomatoes are over $700 a pound. Is there more to discuss? And all we get is a meager salary. And you, the authorities, I saw that cigarettes are $250 to $300 in one province of the country. But tell me, what do you have planned for December? If you're going to offer barter, just tell us. Holguín is waiting for information and to face reality.
The hurricane didn't reach Havana, and bags of rice cost 800 pesos in many places. All of Cuba is mired in abject poverty.
And the province of Matanzas. Matanzas is always forgotten. At my bodega, they still haven't given out the free pasta that the rest of the country received, nor the two sardine cans per senior citizen. Matanzas is forgotten.
Hello, I think there's so much misinformation that the information being given by province is incorrect. The Ministry of Domestic Trade (MINCIN) is the one that should be providing it, because the public might think they're being mocked. The Round Table program should offer more national perspectives. It's good to have knowledge from other regions, but I think we need to be more realistic and dedicate more programs to the internal situation, which is very complex.
And when are they going to give out the rice in Havana? We haven't seen it since July. And when will the milk for the children and pregnant women arrive? They sure love to deceive us like fools.
How will rice be distributed in Havana?
They're talking about all the provinces, but what about Havana?
Why don't they provide general information about Cienfuegos and the rest of the country?
Cienfuegos? Hahaha 🤣😅🤣😅
They chose that name because they "took one" as a reference.
I'm just surviving here, and they haven't delivered rice since July. Coffee is nowhere to be found, and there's not even milk for the children. (Hopefully, we'll see some improvement in the rest of December.) 👍🇨🇺
This method of disseminating information is misinforming the entire population of the country. I read your posts all the time and hear the comments on the street, which is why I say this method doesn't work. I think that if you provided information on TV, like you do with the electrical system and public health, the information would be better. This is a suggestion, please. I'm part of the population that doesn't understand anything. As you say, you are well-read and literate, we are not. You should consider the possibility of providing information in the way I mentioned before. Thank you, and sorry for everything.
And the military community of Villa Toa in Guantánamo only gets electricity for 3 hours, and sometimes just 15 minutes, in a whole day. That means out of the 24 hours in a day, this community only sees electricity for 3 hours, 1 hour, or 15 minutes. For example, today they cut it off at 6 am and it wasn't until 6 pm that they turned it back on. It's disrespectful to this community when there are places in Guantánamo where the power isn't cut off all day long.
And be glad they're giving you water for 15 minutes, like you say. In Maisi, they go 2 or 3 days without seeing electricity. Right now, since yesterday, there's no water, and there's no one to ask for transportation. There's no food, what can I say? Much less when you in Guantánamo, after the cyclone, were given 2 lbs of rice and 0 lbs of sugar. In Maisi, they gave 1 lb of rice and that's it, and it had been 6 months since they gave anything. Although it may seem hard to believe, there are places worse off than you. And let me tell you, here there are no small businesses or anything to fight hunger, and besides that, there's no one to complain to. You're still doing well.

Have you ever wondered why the Province of Matanzas never publishes information about the distribution of basic food baskets? Look into why you don't report this.
That 12 pounds of rice is garbage
And for the province of Matanzas, report nothing.
Hello, they've talked about all the provinces but not Holguin, areas affected by Melissa, which are going to be given to rural areas where no donations arrive, especially the area of the Camasan dam in the municipality of Baguanos.
This twelve-pound thing is good, but why don't they list the other provinces without the mystery?
A free market and an open economy, with salaries that reflect reality, is what the people of Cuba need to end this ridiculous misery of centralized distribution.
Very well, the family members need financial support
Hello, how will the basic food basket be distributed in Villa Clara this December?
How will the distribution of the Norman family food basket be carried out in the province of Santiago de Cuba?
